SEATTLE, Wash. – The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has announced a change in protocol regarding the certification of Boeing’s aircraft.

The FAA will now allow Boeing to issue airworthiness certifications for its 737 Max and 787 Dreamliner models on alternating weeks with the agency. This marks a shift from previous restrictions placed on Boeing.

In 2019, the FAA stopped allowing Boeing to issue its own certifications for the 737 Max following two fatal crashes. Similar restrictions were imposed on the 787 Dreamliners in 2022 due to production issues.
