Former Blue Jays first-round draft pick Alek Manoah didn’t last long on the open market.

Three days after being designated for assignment by the Jays, Manoah was claimed off of waivers by the Atlanta Braves and former Jays general manager, Alex Anthopoulos.

It was a quick turnaround for Manoah, who is fighting his way back from last summer’s Tommy John surgery and initially had hoped to be part of the Jays’ post-season drive.

But when the team had to make room for the activation of Anthony Santander on Tuesday, the Jays opted to part ways with Manoah, who they selected 11th overall in the 2019 draft.
