Ontario’ Solicitor General Michael Kerzner was in Cornwall Friday to announce the provincial expansion of its Basic Constable Training (BCT) program, which will bring 121 recruits to the city from Oct. 6 to Dec. 17.
With a fall enrolment total of 641 recruits, 520 will attend the Ontario Police College in Aylmer for training. The temporary satellite site at Cornwall’s Dev Hotel and Conference Centre will host recruits from 15 police services across the province, from small to large, and urban to rural communities.

“The next step in the future of police training in Ontario is right here,” said Kerzner, outside of the Dev Centre, where dignitaries and law-enforcement representatives gathered from across Eastern Ontario.
