Gadsden's Jazbrie Alvarado is the Athlete of the Week for Sept. 15

Gadsden girls' soccer's Jazbrie Alvarado has been voted as the Las Cruces Sun-News El Paso Children's Hospital Athlete of the Week for Sept. 15-20.

Alvarado was one of 12 football, volleyball, soccer and cross country nominees from Las Cruces, Mayfield, Organ Mountain, Centennial and Gadsden.

Fellow nominees included Las Cruces football's Daniel Amaro and Denton Walter, Centennial football's Dailen Ramirez and Andres Saenz, Mayfield football's Xavier Ochoa, Las Cruces volleyball's Sydney Pipkin, Centennial volleyball's Giovanni Monroy, Organ Mountain girls' soccer's Giselle Turnbow, Centennial girls' soccer's Emma Ruiz, Organ Mountain boys' cross country's Daxton Coombs and Organ Mountain girls' cross country's Ashley Galaz.

Alvarado earned the majority of the vote and collected 18,563
