Another Brant school board has been called out by the education minister for misuse of public funds.

Of five school boards mentioned in a video Paul Calandra posted to X on Wednesday, Grand Erie District School Board (GEDSB) had “wasted” the highest amount of taxpayer dollars — more than $250,000, he said.

The board has been locked in a dispute with longtime Brantford trustee Carol Ann Sloat for three years stemming from business taking place behind closed doors she thought ought to have been public.

Calandra’s public call-out left longtime Brantford trustee Greg Anderson feeling “embarrassed” over the amount.

“I did everything in my power to stop that from happening,” he said.
