A pony named Funky Monkey is back home safe in Houston, Texas, after a dramatic theft.

Vanessa Riley, who runs the nonprofit Peace, Love and Ponies, said Funky is part of a program that provides free rides to children with autism and other disabilities.

The 15-year-old pony, who has a condition known as founder — a painful condition that causes pain and inflammation in the hoof, was recently taken from his corral in the early morning hours.

Surveillance footage captured the moment thieves broke in and dragged Funky Monkey away.

"They grabbed him because it would have been impossible to grab the other ones," Riley told KPRC . "Funky Monkey was the lowest hanging fruit."
