RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Former FBI Director James Comey is due in court on Oct. 9 after being indicted on two federal charges.

The news is making national headlines but also sparking much discussion in central Virginia because of Comey’s ties to the Richmond area.

UVA political analyst Larry Sabato says he does not feel confident the indictment will lead to a conviction, but the damage has already been done.

“He’s had his life disrupted already. This is going to cost him money, probably a lot of it. It’s distressing for his family, and that’s part of this,” UVA Center for Politics Founder and Director Larry Sabato said.
