The Portland Trail Blazers are still four days away from the start of training camp, but the team already has lost a key player to injury.

Scoot Henderson is expected to miss between four and eight weeks with a left hamstring tear, the Blazers announced Friday, delaying a pivotal season for the burgeoning young player.

The third-year point guard suffered the setback this week during a pick-up game at the Blazers’ practice facility in Tualatin.

Henderson initially thought the injury was minor, according to a source with knowledge of the situation, but magnetic resonance imaging testing revealed it to be worse than expected.

He will begin rehabilitation soon and his status will be updated “as appropriate,” according to the Blazers.
