The Patch, at Los Flores Ranch Park in Santa Maria, opened Friday night to kick off the fall season in earnest, offering thousands of pumpkins, a corn maze, photo areas and kids activities.

On Saturday, the Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department will host Discovery Day at Los Flores Ranch , with activities including earth-friendly information booths, recycling games, seed planting, arts and crafts, and opportunities to connect with city park rangers.

The Santa Maria Public Library Bookmobile will be on site, along with festive bounce houses, selfie stations and a free vegetable giveaway for the first 50 attendees.

The Los Flores Ranch Mobile Observatory and Nature Center will feature nature displays and offer participants the chance to safely view the sun and solar flare
