FOXBOROUGH - News of defensive coordinator Terrell Williams being diagnosed with prostate cancer made its way around the Patriots facility during the week.

Players were saddened, and also quick to offer support to their ailing coach, who was dealing with a health issue during OTAs and minicamp this spring and after managing training camp, needed to step away after Week 1.

“First and foremost, it’s very, very, very unfortunate for anybody to go through anything like that, that’s life-threatening,” safety JayLinn Hawkins said Friday. “So my prayers go out to (Terrell).

“He’s a good coach. He believed in all of us. He has passion for the game. It’s just sad ... he has a family. He’s got kids ... so prayers for him.”
