CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — Amid recent drought conditions in West Virginia, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has opened emergency loan assistance to 10 counties that have been hit the hardest, Gov. Patrick Morrisey announced Friday afternoon.

In a release, the governor said that he and the West Virginia Department of Agriculture have received a "Secretarial disaster designation" by the USDA for the 10 counties due to the drought. This designation allows farmers in these counties to be considered for Farm Service Agency emergency loan assistance.

The counties that received a disaster declaration are as follows: • Barbour • Braxton • Brooke • Lewis • Hancock • Nicholas • Pocahontas • Randolph • Upshur • Webster
