NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The annual holiday run, Running of the Santas, in New Orleans has been canceled for 2025.

Organizers of the Running of the Santas said scheduling conflicts with the venues for this year's event led to the cancelation.

Scat Back Foundation puts on the holiday fun run, and President Bob Dauterieve, who also promotes the event known as the "Mayor of the North Pole," said he hopes Running of the Santas will return in 2026.

Running of the Santas started in 1998 in Philadelphia when 40 close friends decided to suit up in holiday costumes and go bar hopping. Running of the Santas grew to host cities like New Orleans and internationally to New Zealand.
