Morristown West has been on the cusp of taking a district win in each of its first two games, but was unable to finish. That changed on Thursday night in a 3-0 win over East at Burke-Toney Stadium.

The Lady Trojans (6-3, 1-2 District 2-AAA) controlled possession early but slipped as the game went on, leading to losses to Sevier and Jefferson County. On Thursday, they were able to stay in control for the full 80 minutes en route to the win.

“We talked about trying to play the feet, possess the ball, play simple, play smart,” West head coach Emily Bryant said. “And I really felt like they took that to heart tonight, and they really tried to play good soccer. They tried to find feet, they tried to look for the through balls. And they just seemed more calm and more composed overall.”
