Judge denies Donna Adelson’s motion for new trial

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - A judge denied Donna Adelson’s motion for a new trial on Thursday.

Adelson’s defense team filed the motion earlier this month.

According to court documents, Judge Stephen Everett did not find the jury’s verdict to be “contrary to the law of the weight of the evidence.”

The court also did not find issue with the refusal to admit the full 2014 and 2023 planners, something Adelson’s defense wanted included in evidence. Court documents show the decision was based on the belief that the State’s evidence of specific entries of the planner was not out of context and “would not rebut arguments that Donna Adelson was fleeing to avoid persecution.”
