The Economic Developers Council of Ontario (EDCO) has chosen Sault Ste. Marie to host the Northern Ontario 2026 Regional Event series, a release says.

The day event will bring together more than 50 professionals from across the region to discuss economic challenges and help shape Ontario’s future growth.

EDCO President Stephanie Hopkin said the selected communities “reflect the spirit of Ontario’s economic development network – collaborative, forward-looking, and rooted in the strength of our local communities.”

Submissions to host these events were carefully evaluated using third-party judges and rigorous criteria.

2026 Regional Host Communities:

• Northern Ontario: City of Sault Ste. Marie

• Eastern Ontario: United Counties of Stormont, Dundas, and Glengarry
