Claire Freid is no stranger to hospitals. As the senior manager of human resources for American Medical Response, she gets around to plenty of them throughout the state. But her visit to Oishei Children’s Hospital was unlike anything she could imagine.
Freid was pregnant with her now-3-year-old daughter Charlotte in late 2022. At her regular checkups, her doctor did not detect anything unusual. It was not until she checked her blood pressure that she realized there was a huge issue.
“At that time, they were really having a difficult time stabilizing my blood pressure, it was extremely high. I had to go on a magnesium drip. And then that next morning, I was told that things didn’t look very good for my baby.”
