FOLLY BEACH, S.C. (WCBD) -- Folly Beach declared a state of emergency Friday as local governments take proactive measures ahead of the potential storm threat from a tropical system.
The emergency declaration was issued during a special council meeting. This means the city can receive resources and state funding in case of damage, should a storm impact the city.
The city is currently operating on the lowest level of emergency, which means they are monitoring the hurricane.
In the meantime, Folly Beach Fire and Police are preparing barricades in flood-prone areas. They set up a citizen information line that residents can call from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to get updated information, and they will be posting updates on all city pages.
