After two preseason games, Jets defender Elias Salomonsson is at the front end in regard to junior Jets prospects who play on back end.

“He has got poise and that is the biggest thing for a defenceman,” Jets head coach Scott Arniel said on Friday morning at the Hockey For All Centre. “He gets back for pucks quick, he passes pucks hard, he shoots the puck hard, he has a physical edge to him that I really like.”

The 6-feet, 172-pound d-man was originally in the lineup against the Edmonton Oilers on Friday night but was ruled out due to an illness. Had he played, Salomonsson would have been the only defenceman to play in all three preseason games.
