ELLSWORTH -- The Hancock County seat has seen plenty of changes over the years. Now, the city is experiencing an uptick in businesses and visitors.
"When Heart of Ellsworth started, Main Street was at a 50% vacancy rate," explained Heart of Ellsworth Executive Director Cara Romano.
10 years later, the city's growth is on a steady increase. A boom in economic and community development is a source of pride for city administrators, like Economic Development Director Twila Fisher, who joined the department back in June.
"Since the year 2000, Ellsworth has seen a 37% increase in growth, in population growth, which is 26% above the state average," stated Fisher.
