NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – The New Mexico Department of Health said that the measles outbreak, which was affecting New Mexico this year, is officially over. The last case was reported on August 14, and public health authorities consider a measles outbreak over once 42 days have passed without a new infection. That time frame is twice the length of the virus's maximum incubation period.

The outbreak started on February 14, with a total of 100 cases across the state. NMDOH said it's the largest in decades. The New Mexico outbreak is believed to have started from across the border in west Texas. Last month, Texas also declared the end of its outbreak.
