Besides Edmonton’s river valley, at Queen Elizabeth Park sits a new mountain bike park that is beginning to take shape.

“For the entire project, maybe 40 per cent … 30-40 per cent complete. This component is 100 per cent complete,” said Jesse Soneff, the construction lead and a volunteer.

The community-led project will feature four lines or courses: the dirt jump line, which is nearly complete, the asphalt pump track, and the flow and skill trail line. All thanks to more than 100 volunteers who spent hours to help make their vision a reality.

“super exciting! It feels great! I can’t wait to see the community coming down here and using it. We’ve already seen the community come out and force to help build it, and had hundreds of volunteers, thousands of volunteer hours,” said Soneff.
