OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Construction crews are installing utilities and other infrastructure that will serve the buildings that will be constructed on the Civic Square development site.

Site developer White Lotus said the site could include affordable housing, health care facilities, and possibly a grocery store.

“It’s been a grass field since I was a kid.”

Chad Powell’s family owns a jewelry store close to the development site.

He says more housing and a grocery store would be good for the north downtown area.

“More foot traffic is always a good thing, and the grocery store they’re bringing in would be a handy thing to have around here. Downtown hasn’t had a grocery store for quite some time,” Powell said.
