LANSING, Mich. (WILX) -Working to reduce the number of students on the waitlist, a local Montessori school is expanding both its space and educational tools for children.

Instilling instruction in children as early as they can walk is the goal of the Montessori Children’s House of Lansing.

“At the toddler level, they’re learning how to take care of their own needs first, like toileting, feeding themselves, changing clothes, and that’s all a part of what is happening in tandem with the academics that also happen,” said Renee Dvorak, Head of School at Montessori Children’s School of Lansing.

The self-care and life skills build as the upper elementary and middle school students apply those techniques in an actual house, the Osage House, where they moved in this past August.
