NORTH KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A local family is grieving the loss of their unborn child after the mother was shot. They say a random act of violence in Sugar Creek took their baby boy, and as they mourn and the mother recovers, the family is seeking justice.

“We lost a life, and we want to seek justice for the baby boy who couldn’t come to us,” Austin Marshall told FOX4.

“We were going to have a baby boy, and he is no longer with us. She's been very strong throughout this whole thing, and we really want to seek justice for him.”

Ally and Austin Marshall had just dropped off their 1-year-old twins at a relative’s home in Sugar Creek on Saturday, September 20, when they drove around a corner and heard three gunshots, then saw a gun aimed in their direction.
