City of Perth property owners will have to face the music with noise level restrictions increased by 36dB in “core areas” of Northbridge.
Northbridge will become WA ’s first special entertainment precinct, with the State Government announcing reforms to protect “rapidly declining” live music venues across Australia.
New noise levels for the external boundary of entertainment venues will be 90dB in the “core” area of the precinct and 79dB in its “frame” area.
According to Yale Environmental Health and Safety, 90dB is a level “at which sustained exposure may result in hearing loss”, while 79dB equivalates to chamber music in a small auditorium.
In addition to this, no new residential developments will be allowed near 90dB venues which are centred around William, Lake, Francis a
