Ten recent car thefts in Worcester, Massachusetts, have police warning residents about a security vulnerability letting thieves take the vehicles.

Eight Kias and two Hyundais have been reported stolen since July, Worcester police said, several in the area of Main and Elm streets.

If they aren't locked, the cars are broken into via a broken window, then the thieves get past the ignition system. When the break-ins are unsuccessful, they can cause significant damage, according to police.

They recommended that owners of Kias and Hyundais investigate getting a software update, retrofit kit or steering wheel lock, among other ideas:
