RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — A man is in custody, accused of attempted murder, following a shooting and hours-long standoff in the Hopkins area on Friday evening.

The Richland County Sheriff's Department said deputies were called to the 400 block of Harmon Road just before 6 p.m. to reports of a shooting. Deputies arrived and found a man nearby with a gunshot wound to the upper body. Deputies later learned that the victim had escaped to a nearby home after the shooting, where he waited until deputies arrived.

The sheriff's department stated on Saturday that he was taken to an area hospital for treatment. His condition wasn't available.
