TEMPE, Ariz. — One man is dead and another is in the hospital after a shooting in Tempe on Friday.

The shooting happened just after 3 p.m. at an apartment complex near Scottsdale Road and Loop 202, officials said. Officers arrived and found a man who had been shot. He was pronounced dead at the hospital, officials said.

Officers then found another person with what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. That man was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition, police said.

Officials did not give further details but said the investigation is ongoing and there is no threat to the public.
