A high streamflow advisory has been issued for North Vancouver and Squamish as a strong storm system dropping rain on Vancouver Island and the North and Central coast is drifting south.
The system, which will reach Squamish and the Lower Mainland areas this evening, is expected to raise river levels rapidly, but no major flooding is expected. There may be minor flooding in low-lying areas, and there is a potential for road washouts and danger to outdoor recreationalists, warns an advisory from the Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship.
