CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, Mo. (KFVS) - Members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3838 will formally dedicate the Brad Skelton Memorial Lakes on Saturday.

The ceremony will take place at the lakes just off County Road 206. The public is invited to the ceremony at noon.

Members of the VFW Post will also provide a picnic after the dedication.

Skelton served in the National Guard and was killed by an improvised explosive device in Iraq in 2008. Skelton enlisted in the National Guard in 1984.

VFW Members encourage the public to honor Skelton’s legacy by attending hte event.

The public is also encouraged to bring yard games and fishing equipment.
