(NewsNation) — The father of Israeli soldier Itay Chen walked out of Benjamin Netanyahu’s Friday address to the United Nations because of what he considers a glaring omission: The Israeli prime minister named the 20 living hostages still being held in Gaza but did not mention another 28, including Chen, whose bodies are with Hamas.
“There are 48 hostages,” Ruby Chen told “Elizabeth Vargas Reports” later in the day. “My son is no less of a hostage.”
His 19-year-old son, Itay, a dual U.S.-Israeli citizen who served in the Israel Defense Forces, is believed to have been abducted and killed during Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023, incursion into Israel. Terrorists took both living and dead hostages during the attack, which left nearly 1,200 people, mostly Israelis, dead and sparked the war in Gaza.
