Newly released documents from Jeffrey Epstein's estate reveal that he was in contact with several prominent individuals, including Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Prince Andrew, Steve Bannon, and Peter Thiel. The U.S. House Oversight Committee, led by House Democrats, published six pages of partial records that highlight Epstein's connections to some of the wealthiest and most influential men in the world.
The documents do not provide evidence that these individuals were aware of Epstein's sexual abuse of teenage girls. A flight log indicates that Prince Andrew traveled with Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell from New Jersey to Florida in 2000. Additionally, Epstein's general ledger contains two identical entries for someone identified as "Andrew," noting "Massage, exercise, yoga."
Interest in Epstein's case has surged recently, despite U.S. President Donald Trump's comments urging the public to move on from what he described as a "pretty boring" saga. The Oversight Committee noted that the documents included financial disclosures suggesting possible payments from Epstein to masseuses on behalf of the individual referred to as Andrew.
The records also show that Epstein arranged meetings with venture capitalist Peter Thiel and far-right activist Steve Bannon. Notably, there is a mention of a planned trip by Tesla CEO Elon Musk to Epstein's private island.
In August, the committee received a total of 8,544 documents in response to its subpoena. These documents include phone message logs from 2002 to 2005, flight logs and manifests for Epstein's aircraft, and ledgers detailing cash transactions related to Epstein and his business entities. Epstein's daily schedules from 2010 to 2019 are also part of the records, which have redacted the names of victims. The committee plans to release more information once those names are fully redacted.
Sara Guerrero, a spokesperson for the Oversight Committee, stated, "It should be clear to every American that Jeffrey Epstein was friends with some of the most powerful and wealthiest men in the world. Every new document produced provides new information as we work to bring justice for the survivors and victims. Oversight Democrats will not stop until we identify everyone complicit in Epstein's heinous crimes. It's past time for Attorney General Bondi to release all the files now."
Epstein died by suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges, having pleaded not guilty. Ghislaine Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for her role in recruiting and grooming teenage girls for Epstein's abuse. She also pleaded not guilty and has sought to have her conviction overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court.
