BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - COVID’s impact on students is showing up on the nation’s report card . The data released earlier this week reveals that math and reading scores dropped to some of the lowest levels in two decades.

However, one tutoring program in Birmingham is working to fight the loss of learning and get students the extra help they need.

It’s no secret the COVID-19 pandemic had major impacts on student learning and test scores nationwide. Five years after schools were shut down, educators are seeing improvements in some subjects, but still not where they were before.

This initiative offers local college students a chance to make some extra money and impact young lives while doing it.
