AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A year after Hurricane Helene, signs of recovery are everywhere, but so are reminders of just how much was lost.
But our community is still pushing forward.
In the Tanglewood subdivision, time feels suspended. It’s the type of neighborhood that brings back childhood memories of summer stays with grandparents.
A lot has changed over the last year. Homes left vacant. Others are still covered in blue tarp. Some houses have been rebuilt and are already for sale.
Hurricane Helene proved ‘we were created for community’
When everyday life came to a halt, countless people dropped everything to help others in their time of need.
“It was built in the ‘60s,” says Trish Wilcher. “Most of it has been handed down by family.”
