AUSTIN, Texas — After more than three decades of mystery and heartbreak, authorities have identified the man responsible for the 1991 Yogurt Shop Murders , a case that has haunted the Austin community and gripped the nation for years.
Law enforcement sources confirmed to KVUE that the suspect is Robert Eugene Brashers , a man with no known ties to Austin aside from the crime itself. Brashers died by suicide in early 1999, nearly eight years after the murders took place.
The announcement has prompted a wave of reactions from the community and others affected by the case, including Brashers’ own daughter, Deborah Brashers.
Deborah, who was just 8-years-old when her father took his life, told KVUE she was devastated to learn of his involvement in this case.
