When things are going your way, the last thing that you want is an injury setback. Well, Carlos Alcaraz’s case is no different. After winning the US Open and a more disappointing Laver Cup loss for Team Europe, his next assignment was the Asian Swing tournaments, beginning with the Japan Open. Yesterday, he kicked things off with a straight-set win over Sebastian Baez in the first round. While it looked like an easy win on paper, the match was a difficult one, with the Spaniard falling to the court and gripping his ankle in pain. Though he was able to close out the match following a medical timeout and some heavy taping, dark clouds loom over his fitness.
