One man has died following a plane crash on the South Coast.

Police found the plane, used by a skydiving business, crashed on Saturday afternoon.

The 54-year-old man, the pilot and the only person on board the plane, was announced dead at the scene.

Emergency services were called to bushland west of George Bass Drive, in Moruya, just after 2pm on September 27, after reports of a crashed plane.

The bushland where they were called to was only two kilometres north of Moruya Airport.

Specialist officers will examine the established crime scene and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
