LONG BEACH — The Compton High football team dominated with a relentless ground game, and its speed and athleticism was simply too much for Cabrillo in a 48-27 rout in a Moore League matchup on Friday night.

The Tarbabes (3-3 overall, 1-1 Moore) scored touchdowns in all three facets of the game (offense, defense and special teams), but it was their running game that overpowered the Jaguars for most of the night. Compton racked up more than 300 rushing yards and four players combined to score their five touchdowns.

They were led by running back Micah Hawkins, who finished with 117 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries in the second half. He also did damage on special teams, with an impressive 60-yard punt return touchdown in the first half.
