The literary world’s invaluable gem, Padma Bhushan awardee and Saraswati Samman recipient Dr. S.L. Bhyrappa, was honored with a public tribute in Mangaluru by various organizations and eminent personalities. The event was held on Friday, September 26, at the Bhuvanendra Sabhavana of Canara High School, Mangaluru, where Dr. Bhyrappa was remembered through musical homage, Vedic recitation, speeches, and national tributes.
Pradeep Kumar Kalkur, former president of the Dakshina Kannada District Sahitya Parishad, who presided over the program, noted that this tribute goes beyond mere respect—it is more appropriately a veneration. He recalled Dr. Bhyrappa’s fondness for Mangaluru, emphasizing how the city’s environment greatly inspired his literary creations.
