A CARAVAN park in a key Northern Tablelands tourist town will be built in time for the migration of grey nomads across the Northern Tablelands.

The move follows a unanimous decision by Tenterfield Shire councillors to allow the Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia to develop the park close to the town's centre.

"We're stoked, it's a positive decision," the club's business development officer, Sean Constable, said on Friday, September 26.

"We can now gain access to the site and engage contractors to start works. I expect a three or four month construction phase and we will be open by autumn next year, ready for the winter migration of the grey nomads."

It was the second time the club had applied to build a park for recreational vehicles on Council-owned land in Francis Street.
