BEACHWOOD, Ohio -- At 5:30 p.m. Oct. 5, the Jewish Federation of Cleveland will mark two years since the Oct. 7 Hamas attacks on Israel by hosting a remembrance event.

The 2023 attacks resulted in the murder of more than 1,200 people, the wounding of thousands more, and the kidnapping of more than 250 people.

The Oct. 5 event (held on Oct. 5 because Oct. 7 is the Jewish holiday of Sukkot) will be a community-wide gathering to remember all those who were lost or stolen two years ago, to demand the release of the remaining hostages, and to pray for the day when neighbors can live side by side in peace.

The program will include messages of support from public officials, as well as poems, prayers and songs.
