Hyderabad, Sept 27 (Maxim News) : Once facing severe criticism, the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) is now earning widespread public acclaim. Within just 14 months, the agency successfully reclaimed approximately 923 acres of government land valued at around ₹50,000 crore from illegal encroachers, demonstrating its operational effectiveness. Many who initially opposed HYDRA have now expressed appreciation for its work.

Established after the Congress government assumed office, HYDRAA was tasked with protecting Hyderabad’s government lands , lakes , and drainage channels . IPS officer Ranganath was appointed as Commissioner, and the agency began strict action against encroachments.
