SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - The National Hurricane Center has begun issuing advisories for Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine (PTC9), which is expected to become tropical storm Imelda within the next day.

The system will bring tropical storm conditions to parts of the Bahamas this weekend and could affect the southeastern United States early next week.A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for the Central Bahamas, including Cat Island, the Exumas, Long Island, Rum Cay, and San Salvador. A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for portions of the northwestern Bahamas, including Eleuthera, New Providence, the Abacos, and the Berry Islands.

At this time, no significant impacts are expected across the Suncoast from what will be named Imelda once PTC9 becomes stronger. However, the storm will be tracking
