Vijayapura: Continuous rainfall for the past two days has thrown life out of gear across Vijayapura district. The situation has worsened due to heavy downpour in neighbouring Maharashtra, leading to severe floods in the Krishna and Bhima river belts.
The overflowing Bhima river has caused massive flooding, submerging several villages and spreading panic among residents along the riverbank. Villages including Devanagaw, Tavarakhed, Byadagihal, Kumasagi, Shembewad, Kadlewad and Shirasgi have been inundated, with water entering houses and surrounding entire localities. Families trapped in these areas are being shifted to safer places.
