The Indian Army's air defence system will now be even stronger. The Army has issued a tender to Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) for approximately ₹30,000 crore to purchase the 'Anant Shastra' missile system. It has been developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
Earlier, it was known as Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile (QRSAM). Now its name has been changed to 'Anant Shastra'. 5 to 6 regiments of Anant Shastra will be purchased and deployed on the Pakistan-China borders.
