Riverside and Imperial counties were placed under a flash flood warning by the National Weather Service on Saturday at 5:22 a.m. The warning is in effect until 8:30 a.m.
“At 5:22 a.m., Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly,” the NWS Phoenix AZ said. “Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.”
Locations impacted by the warning include Bombay Beach, Calipatria, Slab City, Niland and Imperial Hot Mineral Springs.
According to the NWS, “Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deat
