The General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of the Northern Command, Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, on Saturday called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta.

They discussed the prevailing situation in Leh where four civilians were killed in police firing and 90 injured during clashes on 24 September when angry mobs mainly consisting of youth indulged in arson and stone pelting.

The BJP office was set ablaze by the mobs who went violent after the condition of two hunger-strikers turned serious. Led by climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, the hunger-strikers were demanding statehood for Ladakh and its inclusion in the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution.
