The Customs has seized 21 kilograms of hydroponic weed, foreign currencies and gold dust worth Rs 22 crore in six separate operations at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport between September 22 and 25, sources said. A total of six accused were arrested.
According to officials, the first operation was conducted after passenger profiling led the team to intercept a man arriving from Colombo on flight UL-141. “During the examination of the baggage, the contraband was concealed inside the trolley bag. After verifying with the field-testing kit, it was found 2.624 kg of suspected hydroponic weed (Marijuana) worth Rs 2.624 crore,” an official said. The accused was booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
