MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — Humberto increased to a category four hurricane with sustained 145 mph winds as of 6:00 AM Saturday, with slow movement over the past couple of hours.
Humberto does not pose a threat to the United States, but it will be yet another hurricane that rapidly intensifies. It is expected to peak as a Category 5 hurricane this weekend before making a sharp northeast turn out to sea. Humberto will track around the edge of strong high pressure in the Atlantic.
The threat of development has continued to grow for now Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine (formerly Invest-94L), which is currently centered off Cuba. This area is also likely to become at least a tropical storm, if not stronger. The next name is Imelda.
