Mets had conversations with Yankees' about trading for 34 home run slugger before deadline

Both the New York Mets and Yankees were active at the trade deadline back in July. For the Yankees, it worked out for the most part as they are fighting for a division crown.

However, the Mets' trade additions have been mainly busts and have led to New York's National League club struggling to stay in the postseason picture. There were reports earlier this week that both New York teams were in conversation about a one-for-one player trade before the deadline.
